A day after BJP lawmaker questioned Indian Cricket team captain Virat Kohli’s patriotism for marrying actor Anushka Sharma in italy, the newly wed couple met Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The meeting of the newly wed couple with PM Modi was confirmed by the office of the Prime Minister of India on its official Twitter account.
PM Modi congratulated Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma for their wedding.
PMO India tweeted, “Captain of the Indian cricket team @imVkohli and noted actor @AnushkaSharma met PM @narendramodi this evening. The Prime Minister congratulated them on their wedding.”
According to reports, the Virat and Anushka met the prime minister to invite him for their wedding reception to held on December 21 at a Delhi base hotel.
Earlier in the day, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala took a swipe at the BJP saying young men and women should seek approval of the saffron party before getting married.
Surjewala in his tweet asked young men and women in the country to take approval from the BJP to make decisions on whom to marry, where to mary and the food menu for marriage reception.
The Congress legislator wrote, “Attention - To all ‘Young Men/Women’ in India. Pl take prior approval from BJP for-: 1. Deciding whom to marry; 2. Deciding the venue of marriage; 3. Deciding the nature of festivities; 4. Deciding the food menu. Thank You. PS - Issued in Public Interest.”
A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Guna Legislator Panna Lal Shakya on Tuesday had questioned the patriotism of Indian Cricket captain Virat Kohli for preferring Italy over India to get married.

The Guna Legislator had said, “Indian Cricket team captain Virat Kohli earned money in India. Got fame because of India… But he could not find a place to marry in the country.”
he MLA added, “He earned here and spent billions in Italy. Kohli has no respect for the country. His act proves he is not a patriot. Is Hindustan untouchable.”
Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma tied knot on December 11 in Italy. Both Virat and Anushka are to host two grand receptions later this month on December 21 in New Delhi and December 26 in Mumbai.
