Bypoll 2018 results: Blow for BJP as Congress wins Rajasthan's Mandalgarh, leads in Ajmer, Alwar; TMC bags Naopara

With assembly elections due later this year, Rajasthan CM Vasundhra Raje faced massive blow as Congress won Mandalgarh assembly seat and was leading in Alwar and Ajmer Lok Sabha constituencies in crucial by-elections on Thursday.

Apart from Rajasthan, BJP had to face a humiliating defeat in West Bengal as well where TMC bagged both Noapara assembly seat and Uluberia Parliamentary seat by a huge margin.

As far as Rajasthan is concerned, experts feel the bypoll results are likely to leave its trail on the upcoming assembly elections.

The by-elections on the three seats were held on Monday and a total of 42 candidates were in the fray.

# In Rajasthan, the results are crucial for both Congress - looking for revival and BJP battling anti-incumbency as assembly elections are due later this year.
