New Delhi:

A cow smuggler was killed in a police encounter in the wee hours of Thursday in Alwar district of Rajasthan.

The police officials informed that a police patrolling team tried to stop a vehicle in which a few people were seen carrying cows. They broke the barriers and opened fire on police personnel when the police gave a chase to them, a senior police officer said.

“Around 2 am, a vehicle with 5-7 people was seen carrying cows in Rajasthan's Alwar.The police control room immediately blocked roads on receiving this information but the vehicle carrying cows broke barriers and people in the vehicle fired upon police personnel,” Rahul Prakash, SP Alwar, said.

The cow smugglers were picking up cows from various locations in the last few days, police added.
