New Delhi:

Raksha Bandhan is all about love and actually letting your siblings know what they mean to you. It is the festival to celebrates the 'bond of protection'. The ritual is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Shravan, on which sisters tie the sacred Rakhi string on their brother's wrists, and pray for their long lives. In turn, the brother vows to protect her sister any trouble that comes her way and gifts her a loving gift.

This year the Rakhi will tie between 11:04 AM to 1:29 PM. Bhadra Kaal will be observed till 11:04 AM and Sootak will start at 1:40 PM in the afternoon on Monday. After 1:40 there will be no Rakhi celebration.

According to the astrologers, the lunar eclipse or Chandra Grahan will take place from 10:33 PM IST on Monday night till 12:48 AM. According to Hindu beliefs, no important task should be performed during the lunar eclipse. Last time Rakshabandhan and lunar eclipse fell on the same day was in 2005. It was considered very inauspicious occasion.

Although the lunar eclipse will start at 10:53 PM, but its Sutak will start nine hours in advance.
