Ram Nath Kovind to file nomination for President’s post on Friday

NDA’s Presidential pick Ram Nath Kovind on Friday will file his nomination for country’s top constitutional post. For his nomination, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah will stand as proposers while Lok Sabha Secretary General will be the returning officer.

The ruling BJP has completed all the preparations. It has prepared four sets for Kovind’s nomination.

In the first set, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the Proposer while Home Minister Rajnath will be the seconder. In the Second set, BJP president Amit Shah will be the Proposer and Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be the seconder.

BJP’s ally in Punjab and SAD leader Prakash Singh Badal has also been made a proposer in the third set and Venkaiah Naidu will be the seconder.

Telugu Desham Party National President and CM of Andhra Pradesh, Chandra Babu has also been made a proposer in the fourth set while EAM Sushma Swaraj will be the seconder.

After the announcement of Kovind’s name, Chandra Babu Naidu’s TDP was one among the few parties who immediately extended their full support after the declaration of Kovind’s name as NDA’s presidential pick.

The announcement of Ramnath Kovind as the NDA nominee for the post of country’s President surprised many political pundits and thrown the opposition into disarray.

Kovind's victory looks almost a sure shot as NDA parties hold 48.10% votes in the Presidential polls, while TDP, AIADMK, YSRCP, BJD, TRS and IND, parties which have already expressed support to NDA candidate Kovind hold 12.20% votes. This leaves opposition with less than 40% votes.
