Relief to BJP MLA's daughter: Allahabad High Court rules Sakshi Misra-Ajitesh wedding valid, orders police protection to couple

New Delhi:

In a major relief to BJP MLA’s daughter Sakshi Misra, the Allahabad High Court on Monday said that her wedding with Ajitesh was valid. The High Court also ordered the administration to provide protection to the couple. Earlier, there were reports that Sakshi and Ajitesh were abducted outside the Allahabad High Court. However, the couple’s lawyer said that both Sakshi and Ajitesh were present in the court during the hearing. However, he added that, “Only Ajitesh was beaten up. It's not known who these people were. But it proves that there is indeed a threat to their life for which they were seeking protection."

On July 10, the 23-year-old, who is the daughter of Rajesh Misra, the MLA from Bithari Chainpur in Bareilly district, uploaded a video on social media and informed about her wedding to Ajitesh Kumar, 29, on July 4, the police said. In another video, she has apprehended threat to her life from her father, brother and an associate, and urged the Bareilly senior superintendent of police to extend security to them.

Sakshi Misra has also appealed to the MPs and MLAs of Bareilly to not help Rajesh Misra as she alleged that her father and others were out to eliminate her. The Bharatiya Janata Party legislator could not be reached for comments.

Deputy Inspector General RK Pandey said he had come to know of the video messages and had asked the SSP to extend security to the couple. The DIG said the police do not know where to give her security as she had not disclosed her location.

In the video, Sakshi Misra has also told her father to let her live her life. The woman warned that if anything happens to her or her husband, she would do something that would put him behind bars. Harish Kumar, father of Ajitesh Kumar, had said that he had no knowledge of the whereabouts of the couple and that he and his family have also left Bareilly, fearing threat to their lives.
