New Delhi:

The country's premier agency Research and Analysis Wing has sent out a warning that Pakistan-based terror groups could carry out terror activities on Republic Day using Afghan identities and passports.

R&AW has raised an alarm for the security agencies just ahead of the Republic Day.

Based on the input received from R&AW, Special Protection Group (SPG) chief has directed security agencies to extend searches and reconnaissance of all building falling within 2.5 km of Rajpath.

From the office of director ‎R&AW, an intel input was received signalling that there was a high probability of Pakistan-based terror groups using passports of Afghanistan to sneak into India and try to carry out a subversive/terror activity.

However, the latest R&AW input, prompted Chief of Special Protection Group (SPG), to ask for a change in security arrangements. SPG, director, AK Sinha enquired with SIB chief about the deployment of 'spotters' in the Capital on parade route. It was then decided to extend and renew searches of all buildings up to 2.5 kilometres of Rajpath.

This effectively means several government offices and buildings will again undergo searches and safety.
