The Supreme Court on Monday refused to stay arrest of rape-accused Gayatri Prajapati who is allegedly absconding in the case.

The Apex Court said that it would not intervene into the probe and asked Prajapati’s lawyers to approach concerned court for the same.

The Supreme Court said its order directing UP Police to lodge FIR against Gayatri Prajapati is being given a "political colour" and it is "unfortunate".

Prajapatiu was present a poll meeting addressed by Akhilesh at Amethi, where he was re-contesting on an SP in Uttar Pradesh Polls, even he was booked at the behest of the Supreme court in the cases of alleged rape of a minor and alleged gangrape of her mother.

PM Modi had taken a jibe at Congress-SP alliance during Jaunpur poll rally, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said that people do something good, they chant Gayatri Mantra but SP and Congress leaders are chanting Gayatri Prajapati mantra.
