Shocking twist in rifleman Aurangzeb’s murder: Indian Army detains 3 soldiers of Rashtriya Rifles over brutal killing

New Delhi:

In a sensational twist in the brutal killing of rifleman Aurangzeb, the Indian Army has detained three soldiers of 44 Rashtriya Rifles for allegedly sharing the inside information just before his murder. Aurangzeb was conferred the Shaurya Chakra posthumously on the Independence Day last year. According to latest reports, the three soldiers shared the details of Aurangzeb’s movement. The rifleman was abducted by the terrorists after he left the army camp for his home in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch area. The Indian Express report identified the three RR soldiers as Abid Wani, Tajamul Ahmad and Adil Wani. These soldiers will now face an inquiry for allegedly sharing information about the rifleman.

The abduction and murder of the jawan came several weeks after dreaded Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Sameer Tiger was gunned down by security forces in a fierce encounter in Pulwama. The rifleman was part of Major Rohit Shukla's team that gunned down Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Sameer Tiger.

Sameer Ahmad Bhat alias Sameer Tiger, an A++ category terrorist was killed in the encounter at the Drubgam village of Pulwama district in May last year.

The Army jawan had boarded a private vehicle in Shopian for Rajouri. Terrorists intercepted the vehicle as it approached Kalampora and abducted the jawan. His bullet-riddled body was found at Gussu village, about 10 km from Kalampora, in Pulwama district.

Thousands from the area had gathered and shouted patriotic slogans during Aurangzeb’s funeral. In a viral video, Hanief, Aurangzeb’s father was seen asking why Pakistani flags were being waved in Kashmir. "The State government does not allow Army to work on anti militancy operations. They (Army) would teach stone-pelters and militants a lesson if they are given free hand to work. But this government does not allow them," Hanief was quoted as saying in the video.
