Congress party president Rahul Gandhi on Monday took to Twitter to condoled the passing away of former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee and said he was admired and respected by parliamentarians across party lines.
"I mourn the passing away of Shri Somnath Chatterjee, 10 term MP and former speaker of the Lok Sabha," Rahul tweeted.

Chatterjee breathed his last at Belle Vue Hospital in Kolkata on Monday morning following multiple organ failure. His health deteriorated on Sunday to “extremely critical” condition and was put on life support, according to hospital sources. He was 89.

"He was an institution. Greatly respected and admired by all parliamentarians, across party lines. My condolences to his family at this time of grief," Rahul added.
