The son of a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Tej Bahadur Yadav, who was dismissed from the service for exposing the poor quality of food served to soldiers, has been found dead under mysterious circumstances at their home in Harayana’s Rewari. Rohit, the 22-year-old son of the BSP jawan, was found locked in his room with a pistol in his hand. The police said that prima-facie it looked Rohit committed suicide.
"We received a call that Rohit has committed suicide. At the crime spot, we discovered that the room was locked from inside. The body was lying on the bed. There was a pistol in his hands,” said a police officer. The family also called the police to report the suicide. However, Yadav was not home when the incident took place but the police said they have informed him about the suicide of his son.

In 2017, the BSF soldier, who was posted in Jammu and Kashmir, had posted a series of videos on his social media account questioning the sub-standard quality of food being served to the soldiers. In the video that went viral, Yadav had also accused senior officials of corruption and selling the ration in the market.
Following the video, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) had sought a factual report from the Union Home Ministry and the BSF. The BSF, however, refused the claims made by the jawan and ordered an inquiry against him. Yadva’s voluntary retirement request was also rejected by the force.
Later, the ministry informed the PMO that the BSF has maintained that there was no shortage of rations at any post and that the security personnel deployed their never complained about the quality of food being served to them.
The BSF also dismissed the jawan from his service and warned other soldiers against sharing their grievances on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter or WhatsApp.
