Lucknow:

Samajwadi Party veteran Mulayam Singh’s brother and chief of Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) Shivpal Yadav has alleged that the SP-BSP alliance is selling tickets in Uttar Pradesh. Shivpal, whose party has been approved ‘key’ as election symbol by the Election Commission, said that the alliance won’t work in the state as nobody believes those who sell tickets. "Ye jo gathbandhan hai iska koi matlab nahi hai, kaha chale jayenge, inka koi bharosa nahi hai, ye kabhi ladai ladey nahi hai, ye beyimani mein hai. Jo ticket bechta ho uspar janta ko kaisa vishwas hoga (This alliance is useless and doesn't hold any meaning. Nobody knows where they will go and are inexperienced people. Nobody believes the people who resort to ticket selling)," Shivpal was quoted as saying by a TimesNow report.

He had earlier said that no alliance is complete without his party. No alliance can defeat the BJP without the support of the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia), Bahujan Mukti Party and our other alliances. We are ready to form an alliance with other secular parties to keep the BJP out of power,” he had said.

PSPL chief also said that he is ready to join hands with the Congress in Uttar Pradesh for 2019 Lok Sabha Elections. "I am in touch with Congress. Talks are on," Shivpal said at India Today conclave.

Shivpal Yadav, the estranged uncle of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, had formed Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia) in August 2018 after being sidelined in the Samajwadi Party.

Earlier, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) chief Mayawati held a joint press conference on Saturday to announce their alliance ahead of 2019 General Elections. While addressing the press conference, Yadav told media persons that alliance between SP and BSP was necessary to defeat the arrogance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
