New Delhi:
A SpiceJet Dubai-Jaipur flight was forced to make emergency at Jaipur Airport due to tyre burst on Tuesday. The incident took place at around 9 am. All 189 passengers including three children were evacuated safely, the officials said. Engineers are working on the plane to find out the cause leading up to the accident. Due to pilots’ presence of mind, a major disaster was averted. The Dubai-Jaipur SpiceJet flight took off from Dubai and safely at the Jaipur Airport as per schedule despite the incident.
With advancement in aviation, most modern airliners have more than a single tyre on a landing gear. The tyres are designed to take the load if the companion tyre is compromised, a pilot was quoted as saying by USA Today. Aviation experts say tyre bursts usually take place due to brake malfunction which results in the tyres not rotating, skidding against the tarmac and the resulting friction causing it to burst, a Zee report said.
SpiceJet has, however, denied any emergency landing. “While the aircraft was descending at Jaipur, pilots were informed by Jaipur ATC of suspected tire burst. Crew followed their procedures and landed safely at Jaipur. Passenger were deplaned normally. Flight was uneventful and it's clarified that no emergency landing was carried out,” the statement by the airline said.
