Srinagar airport has been shut down after Indian Air Force’s chopper MiG 17 crashed in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Wednesday morning. Two bodies have been found at the crash site, an official has said. “IAF's technical team will arrive and ascertain facts. Till now, we have found two bodies,†SSP Budgam said. The plane, which took off from the Srinagar runway, crashed into an open field in Budgam area. News Nation has learnt that local villagers tried to save the pilots. There are reports that the pilot of the Mig-17 jet died in the crash. The Indian Air Force has still not confirmed death. Jammu and Kashmir Police and Indian Air Force personnel have rushed to the spot.

On Tuesday, the Indian Air Force carried out pre-dawn airstrikes on Tuesday and destroyed major launch pads of terrorists in Pakistan’s Balakot. More than 10 bombs were dropped by the multi-role fighter jet Mirage 2000 at around 3:30 am. The attack was confirmed by the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi. India said the attacks targeted the biggest training camp of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) which claimed responsibility for the suicide terror attack on a CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14, killing over 40 personnel.Â
