The Bihar opposition leaders targeted chief minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday after a wall of canal collapsed and the gushing water flooded the residential areas of the township.
Nitish had to inaugurate Rs 389.31 crore Ganga pump canal scheme at Bateshwarsthan in Bhagalpur district, but later the event was cancelled due to the incident.
Former Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav took a dig at chief minister Nitish Kumar, saying that corruption of Ganga is streaming in Bihar. He said corruption’s thrust was so powerful that a wall collapsed in Bhagalpur.
RJD workers burnt an effigy of Kumar and Lallan in Bhagalpur, alleging corruption in the construction of the project.
Advertisements were inserted in newspapers on Tuesday about the inauguration of the project by the CM in the presence of Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh Lallan and local Congress MLA Sadanand Singh.
