Telangana farmers happy as monsoon rains lash parts of state

New Delhi:

Farmers in Telangana are happy as many places in Telangana received good rainfall in the last two days amid the active South-West monsoon in the state.

Agricultural activities have gained momentum following the good rainfall. Heavy rainfall (seven to 11 cm) was received in isolated places on Monday morning at 8.30 am, according to the IMD in its daily weather report of Telangana.

Mogullapalle in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district received 10 cm of rainfall, followed by Sirpur in Kumaram Bheem district (6 cm), it said, the IMD report said.

However, the heavy rains affected normal life in some areas of Asifabad and other districts.

Low-lying areas were inundated and water bodies, including streams, were in spate following the rains, the report added.

On Sunday, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao directed the administration to remain alert in view of the heavy rains forecast for the next few days, an official press release said.

Rao had directed Chief Secretary S K Joshi to issue instructions to all officials concerned to be in their respective workplaces and coordinate with all the departments in taking up relief measures, the release said.

The ministers have been told to be available in their respective districts to monitor the relief activities, the IMD report added.
