New Delhi:

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday claimed ‘moral victory’ after the Supreme Court said no coercive steps, including the arrest of the Kolkata Police chief Rajeev Kumar, will take place during the course of the investigation in Sharda chit fund scam. The Supreme Court said this while saying that Kumar will appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation at Shillong in Meghalaya.

Banerjee's sit-in - against the CBI's attempt to question the Kolkata Police chief in connection with chit fund scam - continued for the third day on Tuesday, despite the Supreme Court’s order. When News Nation asked Banerjee how justified it is for a chief minister to sit on dharna, she replied: “Arvind Kejriwal and Jayalalitha too sat on dharna”.

"Let me talk to my leaders, I don’t go alone. Today Chandrababu Naidu is also coming, I will consult other leaders also. I will also consult Naveen Patnaik Ji, then I will let you know," Banerjee said when asked about if she is going to continue with her sit-in.

Banerjee started "Save India" dharna in front of Metro Cinema in the heart of the city on Sunday night insisting that the latest CBI action was tantamount to stifling the spirit of "Constitution and federalism" in the country.

"I will continue my Satyagraha till the country is saved. If you want to save the country then you will have to remove (Narendra) Modi," Banerjee had said.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Andhra Pradesh counterpart N Chandrababu Naidu are expected to visit the dharna site at Metro Channel today.

Prominent leaders like RJD's Tejashwi Yadav and DMK's Kanimozhi have already visited the dharna venue on Monday to express solidarity with the firebrand Bengal leader.
