Two police constables were suspended in Rajkot in Gujarat after they shot a TikTok video while on duty, an official said on Sunday. They were suspended for posing on the bonnet of the police control room (PCR) van, the official added.
According to reports, the van was driven by a constable and the video was shot by another cop.
"Two constables of A-division police station were suspended after they were found to be involved in recording a video using a PCR van while on duty. They uploaded the video on Tiktok," a-division police inspector NK Jadeja said.
An inquiry ordered by police commissioner Manoj Agarwal revealed that constable Amit Pragji was driving the van and constable Nilesh Poonabhai was recording the video from a distance, he said.
Both Pragji and Poonabhai have been placed under suspension, he said.
"The video was shot around a month and a half ago in Ramnath Para police line locality," Jadeja said.
The action comes a few days after a young lady constable was suspended for making a TikTok dance video inside a police station in Gujarat’s Mehsana.
The officials said that the lady cop identified as one Arpita Chaudhary has been suspended for ‘violating rules.’ “Arpita Chaudhary has violated the rules. She was not in uniform while on duty.
Secondly, she shot a video of herself inside the Langhnaj village police station. Police personnel should follow discipline, which she has not done and hence suspended," Deputy Superintendent of Police Manjitha Vanzara was quoted as saying by the PTI.
Chaudhary was recruited to the police's Lok Rakshak Dal in 2016. She was transferred to Mehasana in 2018, the deputy superintendent said.
