Jammu:
Two suspected terrorists were arrested on Monday in Ramban district of Jammu region, a senior police officer said. The development comes a day after two terrorists were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in Shopian district of the state.
Shoukat Ahmad of Awantipora and Taufeeq Ahmad of Kulgam were arrested in Gool area around 3.30 am, the officer said. Both are being interrogated by senior police officials. Further details are awaited.
Earlier, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Hindsitapur area of Shopian district in south Kashmir following specific information about the presence of terrorists there, the official said.
As the forces were conducting the search operations, the terrorists fired upon them, which led to a gun battle in which the two militants were killed, he said.
Weapons and other materials have been seized from the site of the encounter, the official added.
