New Delhi:

Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik sought clarification in a letter from Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav over rape accused Gayatri Prajapati’s continuation as minister in the cabinet on Sunday.

Earlier on Saturday, a non bailable warrant had been issued against rape accused former UP minister Gayatri Prajapati and 6 others. Further, his passport has been revoked for 4 weeks along with a look out circular being issued against him.

Security agencies had put airports across the country on high alert amid inputs that Gayatri Prasad Prajapati was planning to fly abroad to evade arrest.

49-year-old Prajpati is facing imminent arrest following an FIR lodged against him and six of his accomplices at Gautampalli police station under various sections of the IPC and POCSO Act.

The FIR against Prajapati had been lodged by the UP police on the apex court’s order for his alleged roles in separate cases of gangrape and an attempt to rape another woman and her minor daughter.
