New Delhi:

The penultimate day of Parliament’s budget session started off with debate on the Pakistan’s death sentence to Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav for alleged “espionage and sabotage” activities.

Even as India has maintained that Jadhav was not associated with Govt or intelligence services in any capacity, the government has warned Pakistan against death sentence to an Indian citizen without a fair trial.

In retaliation to Pak military court’s decision India has decided not to release a dozen of Pakistani prisoners, who were to be repatriated on Wednesday after completion of their prison term.

The second last session also comes after a day BJP-led NDA held a meeting to decide future political strategy. The meeting, which was attended by 32 NDA parties, ended with the crucial decision that the alliance will go to polls in 2019 Lok Sabha elections under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi.

The current Parliament session has been uncharacteristically a productive one after a long time. Several bills, including an early budget, motor vehicle amendments act, GST bills, disability bill, maternity leave bill and enemy property bill, were passed by the parliament.

Parliament will adjourn sine die on April 12.
