A video of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Sharad Tripathi and legislator Rakesh Singh Baghel exchanging blows during a public meeting is going viral. The incident happened during a meeting of monitoring and vigilance committee in Sant Kabir Nagar district of Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Minister of Technical and Medical Education Ashutosh Tandon was also present in the meeting when the brawl broke out.

According to reports, Tripathi thrashed Baghel after an altercation began over his name missing from a foundation stone of a project.

Fuming Member of Parliament Tripathi can be heard in the video asking why his name was not included on the foundation stone for a local road. To this Rakesh Baghel said it was his decision. Soon after this, the two leaders fought each other with fists and shoes.

Cops and other party workers later intervened to prevent the fight from escalating.

47-year-old Sharad Tripathi is the Lok Sabha member from Sant Kabir Nagar and 52-year-old Rakesh Singh Baghel is the Vidhan Sabha Member from Menhdawal and is associated with the "Hindu Yuva Vahini", the right-wing group founded by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
