The police on Wednesday said that forensic examination of the body of a labourer from West Bengal, who was found dead in Kerala, would be conducted while his family members claimed he was murdered.
Hemanta Roy Bagdi, an electrician of Bankura district working in Alappuzha district of Kerala, was found dead with his throat slit in the toilet of the house where he was staying on December 10, Bankura SP Sukhendu Heera said.
The incident came shortly after another labourer from West Bengal was hacked and burnt to death in Rajasthan.
Sub-divisional Police Officer of Bishnupur S K Das said the forensic examination of the body would be conducted after it arrives from Kerala.
Though the local police authorities in Kerala said after the post-mortem examination that he committed suicide, his family members are not convinced and alleged he was murdered, Heera said.
He said Hemanta's father Ananda Roy Bagdi was of the opinion that his son was murdered but did not know the reason.
Bankura police also talked over the phone to people who had been working with Hemanta and they too said he killed himself with a knife which has been recovered.
Hemanta, a resident of Roll village under Indas police station in Bankura district, had gone to Kerala in search of a job in September. He was married and had a 6-month-old daughter.
