New Delhi:

Things are apparently going to get worse between the Janata Dal (Secular) and Congress party in Karnataka as Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy has once again stated that he is under pressure from his alliance partner in the state. The chief minister said that he was functioning like a clerk and not like a chief minister because of Congress’ interference in everything, reports News18.

According to the report, the chief minister said this while addressing a meeting attended by JD(S) lawmakers. He also explained the difficulties being faced by him.

“He is sad. He almost cried. Told us that the Congress was behaving like a big brother. Forcing him to sign all kinds of orders. They forced him to expand the Cabinet and even appointed chairpersons to government-run boards and corporations without his approval. He feels that it is getting tougher with each passing day,” an MLA, who was present in the meeting, was quoted as saying in the News18 report.

However, JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda - who was present in the meeting - assured the MLAs and MLCs that he will not do anything against the coalition before crucial 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

Recently, senior JD(S) minister HD Revanna had said that his brother and the chief minister will 'tolerate things as long as he can'. "Kumaraswamy will tolerate as long as he can, but one day what will happen? We are not sitting here fearing (about losing power)," Revanna said when asked about a Congressman expected to be appointed as the chief minister's political secretary.
