The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday announced the much-awaited waiver of farm loans up to Rs 1 lakh for UP's 2.15 crore small and marginal farmers.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had promised in party's 'Sankalp Patra' (Manifesto) to waive off farm loan in Uttar Pradesh. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also said in his election rallies that writing off farm loans would be among the BJP government's one of the first decisions in Uttar Pradesh.

The decision to waive off farm loan by the BJP-led government in UP will benefit 2.25 crore farmers and is likely to cost the state exchequer Rs 36,000 crore.

Here are the key decisions of today's cabinet meeting: 

# UP govt announces farm loan waiver of Rs 30,729 crore for UP's 2.15 crore small and marginal farmers.

# NPAs worth 5,630 crores also waived off

# Anri-Romeo squads doing great work across the state.

# 5000 wheat buying centres to be set up, to be monitored by CM.

# Farmers to get Rs 10 more than minimum support price per quintal.

# 26 illegal slaughter houses closed. Supreme Court and NGT orders to be followed in letter & spirit.

# To ensure harassment-free transactions for farmers at purchase units.

# Money will be directly transferred to farmers' banks accounts for wheat sale.

# Anti-Romeo squads doing great work across the state.

# Cabinet in agreement all illegal slaughterhouses will be shut, keeping in mind Supreme Court rules and Green Tribunal norms.
