Jammu:

India celebrated the ethos of being a teacher on 'Teachers Day' recently. A teacher in true sense extends impact beyond the classroom. A teacher like Wasim Bhat goes miles ahead to train and teach students.

As Kashmir is facing Internet issues from last one year, the common folks life has been affected in many ways along with teaching. The students appearing for JEE and NEET exams had lost all the hopes during the lockdown. Wasim Bhat came with an idea of helping those students during the lockdown. He planned to reach thousands of students appearing for these professional exams with his expertise.

In an effort to help those students, Wasim Bhat recorded all his classes on his phone and shared his learnings with the students across the valley through pen drives. Wasim Bhat took the help of his colleagues to help those students appearing for JEE and NEET exams. He says, “I would love to help the students who come to visit me, irrespective of their college and alma-meter. I also help those who were not my students but came to me with pen drives for my classes".

A Srinagar based Wasim has an Engineering Degree from Chennai and teaches Chemistry to aspiring students from Kashmir Valley. He has been in teaching profession since his college days. On his such benevolence acts, Wasim says, "Today I am able to see the change these classes and students have made. I am getting hundreds of calls from students as the exams are approaching. Students are qualifying exams which I think is my achievement’’. Wasim now teaches students online and also has a youtube channel. The channel has more than 4 lakh subscribers. He had put out more than 30 classes on the channel to help students who can’t afford private teachers and coaching centres.
