New Delhi:

In yet another major crackdown to his predecessor, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy on Friday served a notice to N Chandrababu Naidu for 'removal' of an illegal bungalow on the Krishna riverbed taken on lease by the latter. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority pasted the notice on the bungalow's wall as the owner, Lingamaneni Ramesh, was away. The bungalow was built on a six-acre land on the Krishna riverbed "without any legal permission and in total violation of rules and regulations," the CRDA said in the notice.

"Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority has served notice to Former CM, N Chandrababu Naidu to vacate his current official residence," the news agency ANI reported.

The notice comes close on the heels of the authorities beginning demolition of a conference hall - 'Praja Vedika' - built adjacent to the bungalow. The demolition started on Wednesday. The hall was built at a cost of Rs 8.90 crore during Naidu's tenure as chief minister, essentially to conduct government conferences as there was no other facility in the state's new capital city.

The order by Jaganmohan effectively meant rejection of Naidu's plea to him earlier this month that the hall, used for official meetings in the previous regime, be declared as 'residence annex' of the Leader of Opposition.

These developments come nearly a month after the YSRCP, in a thumping performance, had won 151 of the 175 Assembly seats and 22 of the 25 parliamentary constituencies in Andhra Pradesh. Following this massive mandate, Reddy was unanimously elected as the leader of the YSRC Legislature Party and became the chief minister of the state.
