New Delhi:

Amid ongoing political turmoil in Karnataka, Chief Minister Kumaraswamy-led Janata Dal Secular (JDS) has reportedly booked 35 rooms at Paddington resort in Kodagu district of the southern state. Confirming the news, resort manager Rashmi said they have been told to reserve 35 delux rooms, including 10 poolside Villas and 7 cottage bungalows, where JD-S ministers are liekly to be ferried on Monday evening. While a private pool villa costs Rs 25,000, rests of the rooms will be of Rs 9,000 or so.

The development comes hours after all the Congress and JDS ministers from the Karnataka government tendered their resignations, in the midst of growing infighting between the coalition parties. Notably, the resort booked in Coorg is the same one where TTV Dinakaran's MLAs stayed during the AIADMK crisis in the year 2017.

The Congress-JDS government has plunged into a crisis ever since 14 MLAs of the alliance submitted their resignations to the state Assembly Speaker on Saturday. The troubled-hit coalition, which has 118 MLAs in the 224-member Assembly, is on the verge of collapse with a growing risk of majority loss in the House.

Both the JDS and the Congress have been plagued by dissension over allocation of ministerial berths and distribution of Lok Sabha poll tickets. The cracks became deeper after the BJP swept the parliamentary election in the state. Ten of the MLAs who resigned flew by the chartered plane to Mumbai on Saturday. They have been lodged at a hotel in the city.

While the political crisis entered day three in Karnataka today, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is sounding rather confident and has stated that the Cabinet is going to be restructured soon and all the ongoing issues will be resolved.
