With the onset of winter in the valley, October is the last window for terrorists to infiltrate from across the border . Army estimates over 250-300 terrorists are waiting at the launch pads in PoK to infiltrate in the valley. But the tighten security grid has left no scope for them to cross the border. Security forces claim that around 200 terrorists are presently active in Jammu and Kashmir. Out of which 40 are expected to be from foreign lands and mostly active in North Kashmir, while majority of locals are in South Kashmir.
‘There are 250-300 terrorists ready in PoK launch pads who are waiting to infiltrate. The weather is still feasible if they want to attempt but I want to assure you that they won’t be able to infiltrate. Total number of terrorists in the valley would be around 200. Pak terrorists are 40-50, while we always have an option for the local ones, we always ask them to surrender and come back to the mainstream', says H S Sahi, GOC Kilo Force.
With a tight security grid on LoC and hinterland, the scope for terror attacks and infiltrations have been reduced to a large extent. However, Defence experts say that the number of infiltration bids and ceasefire violations could increase in the next two weeks. Although, the infiltration attempts were foiled and brought down by 75 percent this year. Security forces say the majority of infiltration attempts were foiled at the LoC. ‘Around 30 terrorists have managed to infiltrate this year while the number was 130 last year. We have managed to bring down infiltration to a large extent. The borders are completely sealed by security forces. ‘’ says H S Sahi, GOC Kilo Force.
According to sources, Pak army is planning a new strategy for the Kashmir terror plot. Many meetings were held between Hizb, Lashker and Jaish functionaries over coordinating joint terror operations in the Valley. These terror outfits may be organizing attacks in coordination and security has been put on alert to foil such attempts already.
