E-Auction of PM Modi's Gifts Begins Today, Here's How You Can Own A Memento

The e-auction of gifts offered to Prime Minister Modi on his birthday will start from September 14. PM Modi received almost 2700 gifts which include head gears, shawls, swords, portraits by different organisation and chief ministers across the country. The gifts received will be put to auction on an online portal categorically designed by National Informatics Centre.

PM Modi also appealed the people to take part in the e-auction as the fund generated will be devoted towards the Namami Gange Mission.

A portrait of Modi done on silk and gifted by owner of Seematti textiles Beena Kannan has a base price of 2.5 lakh and is said to be the most expensive among all the gifts.

The fund generated by the auctioning of presents will be used for the conservation and rejuvenation of the Ganga. The gifts have been currently kept at the National Gallery of Modern Arts in New Delhi for display. 

"The gifts received by the PM in the last six months will be auctioned. This time the auction will be completely online (earlier an auction happened in January). I thank the PM for giving us this opportunity. The minimum reserved price for the items is Rs 200 while the highest is Rs 2.5 lakh, " PTI quotes Culture Minister Prahlad Patel as saying. 

Here's the list of steps one can follow to register for participating in the e-auctioning-

  • Go to https://pmmementos.gov.in.
  • Click on Buyer signup option on top right corner of the website.
  • Enter mobile number, email id, password followed by captcha.
  • Click on the continue button to proceed.
  • Enter OTP received on Email or Mobile Number.
  • Enter Personal details, address and save the tails.
  • Congratulations you have completed your registration process. 

The mementos that PM recieved include 576 shawls, 964 angavastram , 88 pagris and  jackets. There are also many replicas of cow.
