Uttar Pradesh government announced closure of all educational and training institutes till Monday after the Supreme Court website posted around 9 pm that the five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Gogoi will pronounce its verdict in the case at 10.30 am on Saturday, a non-working day for courts. Not only in UP, but schools will also remain closed Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Karnataka.
Elaborate security arrangements have been made across Uttar Pradesh and government announced closure of all educational and training institutes till Monday after the Supreme Court website posted around 9 pm that the five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Gogoi will pronounce its verdict in the case at 10.30 am on Saturday, a non-working day for courts.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the law and order situation in each district and appealed for peace.
Similar review meetings were held in other states following a general advisory issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday, asking them to deploy adequate security personnel at all sensitive places.
Ahead of the Supreme Court judgement in the communally sensitive Ayodhya land dispute case, political leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and religious leaders urged people to maintain peace and respect the verdict.
Authorities said social media posts will be monitored to ensure that no attempt is made to vitiate the atmosphere by spreading fake or inflammatory content and necessary arrangements have been made to ensure safety and security of religious places.
School holiday in Madhya Pradesh
The Madhya Pradesh government has declared a holiday for all educational institutes in the state on Saturday in view of the Ayodhya case judgment.
The Supreme Court is scheduled to deliver the verdict in the politically sensitive case on Saturday morning.
An order issued by the deputy secretary, school education department, declared holiday for all educational institutions, including private ones.
Chief Minister Kamal Nath appealed people to respect the verdict and maintain peace.
“I appeal to the people of the state and all sections of the society to welcome and respect the verdict whatever the decision may be,” he said in a statement.
He appealed people to maintain brotherhood and harmony in keeping with the “Ganga-Jamuni (syncretic) culture” of the state.
People should not spread rumours, he added.
Delhi government advises all private schools to remain closed on Saturday
The Delhi government on Friday advised all private schools to remain closed on November 9 as a precautionary measure in view of the Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya land dispute case.
All government schools will be closed on account of second Saturday of the month.
"There are potential security concerns with the SC Ayodhya verdict tomorrow morning. All government schools and many private schools are closed tomorrow, as it is a second Saturday. We are advising all private schools to also remain closed tomorrow," Delhi's Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said in a tweet.
The apex court is scheduled to pronounce at 10.30 am on Saturday its verdict in the communally sensitive case of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya.
All schools and training institutes in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh will also remain closed till Monday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to countrymen to maintain peace after the top court pronounces the verdict in the decades-old case and not view it as a matter of loss or victory for anyone.
Restrictions imposed in J-K, schools, colleges to remain closed
Ahead of the Supreme court verdict on the Ayodhya case, restrictions were imposed in Jammu and Kashmir while schools and colleges will remain closed on November 9, officials said Friday night.
"Restrictions under Section 144 of the CrPC have been imposed in Jammu and Kashmir in view of the SC verdict as a precautionary measure," DGP Dilbag Singh told PTI.
He said necessary security measures have been put in place to maintain law and order.
All schools and educational institutions will remain closed on Saturday, he said.
Schools, colleges across Karnataka to remain closed
The Karnataka government on Friday declared that all schools and colleges in the state will remain closed on November 9 in view of the Supreme Court verdict in the Ayodhya land dispute case.
The apex court is scheduled to pronounce at 10.30 am on Saturday its verdict in the decades-old case of Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid land dispute in Ayodhya.
"Tomorrow Saturday, 9-11-2019, State government has declared holiday to all schools and colleges in the state," Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar said in a tweet.
