New Delhi:

In what could spark a controversy, the BJP government in Haryana has asked the School Council for Educational Research and Training (SCERT) to analyse and suggest which shlokas from the Bhagavad Gita can be added in the school curriculum, a report in a leading daily said.

The Education Department analysed the issue following which the government approached the SCERT, the report said.

The recommendations of the SCERT would be discussed with a committee, which is being headed by retired school teacher and education activist Dina Nath Batra, it said.

TC Gupta, director general, higher education, was quoted as saying by the daily, “We have referred the matter to the SCERT for their perusal. It is up to them to propose from which level Gita can be introduced at school level.”
