New Delhi:

Bihar is reeling under floods and Sushil Modi, the deputy chief minister of the state is busy watching movies. However, when questioned by the media, the BJP leader defended him, saying that several tasks can be done at the same time and apart from personal entertainment, he was helping flood-affected people as well.

"I’ve been abused for watching movie ‘Super 30’. Today also an English channel was showing ‘when state is flooded, deputy CM is watching a film’. Several tasks can be done at the same time, we’re helping flood-affected people and doing all the arrangements,” he said.

The BJP leader also said that had he not gone to watch the movie, which was made on a person from Bihar, it would have been disrespecting film artists. “If there is a movie made on Bihar due to which the respect of the state has increased, not going to watch that film will be showing disrespect towards the film and its artists,” he added.

Opposition RJD had launched a blistering attack on the deputy CM for watching the movie along with his colleagues while people of the state were struggling for their lives following the deadly floods.

“People are struggling for their lives following the horrifying floods in Bihar but shameless Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi is watching movie in Patna along with all the legislators and ministers of the BJP. When asked by the journalists, the shameless legislators said ‘should we quit eating, drinking and watching movies? If people are dying, let them die’,” the RJD had said.

Two days back, Sushil Modi had also met ‘Super 30’ actor Hrithik Roshan, who had visited Patna after the movie was made tax-free in Bihar. Modi had shared the pictures of his meeting with the actor on social media.

At least 78 people killed and over 50 lakh rendered homeless as deadly floods inundated a dozen districts. The state government has installed 1,119 relief camps, spread across all the 12 affected districts, to ensure proper food and safe drinking water to those impacted by the deluge. However, there have been multiple reports claiming that rescue teams have not reached several areas where people were trapped in the flood waters.
