New Delhi:

Incessant rains have brought normal life to standstill killing more than 40 people in the last five days in Bihar. Heavy rains since last Friday have thrown normal life out of gear affecting rail traffic, healthcare facilities and schools in the state. Streets of capital Patna are flooded with water and National Disaster Response Force have been deployed to conduct rescue operations in the city.

Along with Patna, regions like Hazipur, Lakhisarai and Katihar are also facing severe flood. A video of Katihar MP and JD(U) leader Dulal Chandra Goswami is doing rounds in the social media in which he can be seen adding insult to the injury of flood-hit people who approached him seeking help. The MP who had gone to take stock of the situation in his region, in response to man who asked for relief, said “Let me become MP for five times, then the work will start.”

The locals in the video can be seen apprising MP of the situation in Katihar. MP Dulal Chandra Goswami added that Tariq Anwar became MP for five times and so, he too will do it. And then finally in the sixth term, he’ll start the work. He can be further seen warning the people to not be in ‘haste’. “The one who did no work got more than 5 lakh votes and the one who did something had to struggle for the victory. Where will the energy come from?” He reiterated.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi discussed the flood situation in Bihar with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and assured that the central government stands ready to provide all possible help.
