New Delhi:

On the last day of campaigning, PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah will address rallies in Haryana and Maharashtra. PM Narendra Modi will address rallies in Sirsa and Rewari of Haryana while BJP national president will campaign in Navapur, Akola, Karjat-Jamkhed of Maharashtra. Polling in both the states will take place simultaneously in a single phase on October 21. A 25-member team of the Japanese Ground Self-Defence Forces is scheduled to undergo a joint military exercise with Indian Army soldiers at the Counter-Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School in Mizoram’s Vairengte from October 19 to November 2. The aim of the exercise is to share experience gained during various counter-terrorism operations in the respective countries.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Saturday warned against further delay to Britain's departure from the European Union, telling lawmakers there was "little appetite" for another extension. He told parliament that "further delay is pointless, expensive and deeply corrosive to public trust", as MPs sat on a weekend for the first time in 37 years to debate his divorce agreement.

Maulana Anwarul Haq, the Muslim cleric who had announced a Rs 51-lakh bounty for beheading former Hindu Mahasabha leader Kamlesh Tiwari, was detained in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor. Previously, there were reports that teh Maulana was arrested. However, a senior police official clarified that Maulana has not been arrested. Avinash Chandra, ADG Bareilly Zone clarifies, "Maulana Anwarul Haq has not been arrested, investigation still underway". The development came a day after Tiwari was murdered by unidentified assailants in Lucknow on Friday. 

Setback For Pakistan To Be In 'Grey List', Pressure On Them To Act: Army Chief Rawat After FATF Warning

Indian Army chief General Bipin Rawat on Saturday termed the ‘grey listing’ of Pakistan by the FATF as a setback for neighbouring nation. He said that the pressure was on Islamabad to take action against the terrorists working from its soil. "There is pressure on them. They have to take action. We would like them to work towards restoring peace. To be on such a 'Grey List' is a setback for any nation," Army Chief was quoted as saying by news agency ANI. On Friday, Paris-based Financial Action Task Force put Islamabad on notice, warning that the country will be blacklisted if it does not control terror funding by February next.

Chile president declares state of emergency after violent protests

Chile's president declared a state of emergency in Santiago Friday night and gave the military responsibility for security after a day of violent protests over increases in the price of metro tickets. "I have declared a state of emergency and, to that end, I have appointed Major General Javier Iturriaga del Campo as head of national defense, in accordance with the provisions of our state of emergency legislation," President Sebastian Pinera said.
