28 Injured, Many Feared Trapped As Under-Construction Building Collapses In UP’s Bareilly

At least twenty-eight workers were feared trapped after an under-construction house collapsed in Nawabgunj of Bareilly. According to reports, the house belongs to Liyaqat Ali of Kyoladia area. During construction, the linter collapsed trapping these workers. Teams of police and fire brigade arrived at the scene after being informed. They rescued five people out of the debris with the help of locals.

Supreme Court Asks Yusuf Tarigami To Be Shifted To AIIMS From Srinagar

The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered shifting of ailing CPI (M) leader Mohd Yusuf Tarigami to AIIMS in Delhi from Srinagar where he is under house arrest. Top Court Allows P Chidambaram To Withdraw His Plea Challenging CBI Arrest

The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed former union minister P Chidambaram to withdraw his plea against non-bailable warrant and remand orders of the trial court in the INX Media corruption case lodged by the CBI. A bench of Justices R Banumathi and A S Bopanna passed the order after senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, appearing for Chidambaram, said they have decided to unconditionally withdraw the petition. Now the action shift to Rouse Avenue Court. Chidambaram will be produced in Rouse Avenue Court later today.

The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed Iltija Iqbal  to meet mother Mehbooba Mufti in Srinagar, where the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister is under detention following abrogation of Article 370. A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi allowed Iltija to meet her after she submitted in the court that she has no problem in going to her Srinagar residence but has not been able to move out freely there. In her petition, Iltija had submitted that she is concerned about her mother's health as she has not met her for a month.

Rupee rises 27 paise to 71.85 against US dollar

The rupee appreciated by 27 paise to 71.85 against the US dollar in early trade on Thursday as gains in domestic equity market enthused investors. At the interbank foreign exchange the rupee opened at 71.87, then gained further ground and touched a high of 71.85, registering a rise of 27 paise over its previous close.

Opening Bell: Sensex Rises Over 100 Points, Metal Stocks Rally

Domestic equity benchmark BSE Sensex jumped over 100 points in opening session on Thursday, led by gains in oil and gas, power and metal stocks, amid positive cues from global markets.
