Days after Supreme Court deferred the verdict on the Sabarimala issue, the temple will open today for the 41-day annual pilgrimage season. Women of all age groups will be allowed to enter the temple, however, the Kerala government has said that no protection will be given to the activists as shrine is "no place for activism". In a 3:2 majority verdict, the Supreme Court Thursday referred to a larger 7-judge bench the pleas seeking review of its historic 2018 judgment allowing women and girls of all ages to enter Kerala’s Sabarimala temple, along with other contentious issues of alleged discrimination against Muslim and Parsi women.

There is some hope of it getting better as day progresses. Goa's Director General of Police Pranab Nanda died of cardiac arrest in New Delhi last night, a senior official said. Inspector General of Police Jaspal Singh confirmed Nanda's death. He was on a Delhi visit after attending official functions in Goa on Friday.
