New Delhi:

An empty Pakistani boat was on Saturday early morning seized by Border Security Force (BSF) troops from the Ravi river in Punjab's Ajnala sector. It is to be noted that the seizure comes at a time when there is heightened vigil in border areas due to increasing tension between India and Pakistan.

Soon after the boat was captured along the International Border, the BSF troopers beefed up the patrolling in nearby areas due to the possibility of infiltration. However, the BSF troopers have so far not found any trails of intruders.

This comes at least two days after BSF seized an abandoned Pakistani fishing boat from Harami Nallah in Sir Creek area off Gujarat’s Kutch coast. In a statement, BSF said that the seizure of the single-engined wooden fishing boat was made at around 1:30 PM and a check of the vessel and the vicinity had not thrown up anything suspicious as yet. “There was an icebox and five jerry cans on board,” it added.

It is worth mentioning here that Harami Nallah is a sluggish, shallow channel in the Sir Creek area, a 96-kilometre water strip that separates Kutch from Pakistan’s Sindh province. Previously, on October 4, an abandoned Pakistani boat was seized by BSF troops from the Ravi River in Punjab’s Amritsar district.
