Chandrayaan-2’s Vikram Made Hard Landing On Moon: Modi Govt Officially Confirms In Lok Sabha

Nearly three months after the technical snag that stopped India’s entry into the elite space club, the Narendra Modi government has officially confirmed about the fate of Chandrayaan-2’s Vikram Lander. In a written reply to a question to the Department of Space in Lok Sabha, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh made the official statement. “The first phase of descent was performed nominally from an altitude of 30 kms to 7.4 kms above the moon's surface and velocity was reduced from 1,683 metres per second to 146 metres per second. Read more…

Blaze Doused At ITO's Sales Tax Office, No Casualty Reported, Confirms Delhi Fire Services

A fire broke out at the Sales Tax Office at Delhi's ITO on Thursday. Initial reports suggest that 5 fire tenders have rushed to the spot. There’s no news of any casualty or any damage so far.News Nation has learnt that fire was noticed from the 13th floor of the Sales Tax Office. “A small fire has occurred in sales tax building at 13th floor at ITO in room no 115. Cabinet Approves Import Of 1.2 Lakh Tonnes Of Onion To Ease Domestic Supplies: Sitharaman

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday said the Cabinet gave its approval to the Food Ministry's recent decision to import 1.2 lakh tonnes of onions in a bid to improve the domestic availability of the key kitchen staple and check prices. Addressing the media, Sitharaman, after the Cabinet meeting, said the government is also facilitating private imports and also relaxed phytosanitary and fumigation norms till December. Read more…

Trump Impeachment: Ukraine Was Worried About US Aid Holdup On Day Of Controversial Call, Says Official

Ukraine in July voiced concern over a US aid holdup signalling that it was aware of the freeze at the time of a controversial telephone call with President Donald Trump. Laura Cooper, the Pentagon official in charge of the country, testified to Congress that Ukraine reached out on July 25, the very day that Trump spoke to his counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky in a call that triggered an impeachment inquiry. Cooper said she received emails on July 25 saying that both the Ukrainian embassy in Washington and the House Foreign Affairs Committee were asking about the assistance. Read more…
