Disappointed after the collapse of his 14-month-old government, former Karnataka chief minister HD Kumaraswamy on Saturday said that he was thinking of quitting politics as he became the Chief Minister “accidentally”.

"I am thinking of going away from politics. I came to politics accidentally. I became the Chief Minister accidentally. God gave me opportunity to become the Chief Minister twice. I wasn't there to satisfy anyone. In 14 months, I did good work towards the state's development. I am satisfied," news agency ANI quoted Kumaraswamy as saying in Kannada.

The 59-year-old JDS leader became the chief minister of the Karnataka in May last year with the support of the Congress. However, his tenure ended after the fall of his coalition government following dissent within.

This was the second tenure of Kumaraswamy as the chief minister, but it wasn’t easy for him to manage the rocky coalition as reports of rift between the alliance partner kept coming on several occasions.

Just two months after taking over the office, Kumaraswamy broke down during a meeting with party workers, saying that he drunk the position of heading the coalition like Lord Shiva, who consumed the poison to save the world.

After Kumaraswamy government’s collapse, BS Yediyurappa-led BJP formed the government. Yediryurappa, who became the chief minister of the state for the fourth time, proved majority in the floor of the Assembly on July 29.
