Cash Rush: Banks to remain closed today, ATMs to function

New Delhi:

Banks will remain closed on account of Sunday throughout the country on November 20. The cash dispensing machines, including ATMs and POSs will, however, function.

The government has recalibrated several thousand ATM machines to dispense new currency notes of denominations of Rs 500 and Rs 2000 to ease some rush at the banks and ATMs.

In further aide, SBI has started POS mobile vans as well as POS counters across shops, banks and petrol pumps, where people can avail cash up to Rs 2000 by swiping SBI debit or credit card.

Despite all the arrangements, a heavy rush at cash dispensing machines is expected on Sunday as most of the people have not been to exchange any cash from banks since Friday evening.

Saturday at bans was reserved only for senior citizens.
