Ten policemen, posted in Gautam Buddha Nagar district in Uttar Pradesh, were suspended after they were caught on camera purportedly accepting commissions from private hospitals for bringing accident victims.
"Ten policemen, including nine head constables, have been suspended by SSP Preetinder Singh yesterday," a senior police officer said.
The policemen were shown in a sting operation, carried out by a private news channel, allegedly accepting commissions from hospitals for taking road accident victims there.
According to the sting operation, they allegedly took commissions ranging between Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,500, the officer said.
These hospitals were now under scanner, he said.
