In another incident of high-handedness by a public representative, a video of Shiv Sena corporator and former Mumbai mayor Milind Vaidya assaulting truck drivers transporting chicken has gone viral. According to reports, the incident took place on Friday at around 10 am when Vaidya along with his supporters went to Mahim's Naya Nagar and started beating truck drivers claiming that illegal parking of vehicles carrying chicken causing nuisance and unhygienic conditions.

In the video clip, that has apparently gone viral on social media, the Shiv Sena corporator is purportedly seen slapping drivers of chicken-laden trucks and hurling abuses at them.

Vaidya is heard saying that locals are facing problems due to illegal parking of trucks carrying live chicken.

Vaidya says he has raised the truck parking issue in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, ruled by the Shiv Sena, multiple times, but nothing has happened.

"But no action has been taken against them...so being the corporates of the area I have taken the law into my hands and evicting these people from here," he is heard saying in the clip.

Vaidya's video surfaced a day after Congress MLA Nitesh Rane and his supporters were arrested for pouring mud on a deputy engineer in Maharashtra's Sindhudurg district over poor condition of the Mumbai-Goa highway.

The assault came close on the heels of an attack by BJP lawmaker Akash Vijayvargiya, the son of senior party leader Kailash Vijayvargiya, on a civic official in Indore on June 26.

Akash Vijayvargiya, who was later arrested and spent four days in jail before getting bail, attacked the official with a cricket bat over the demolition of a dilapidated building.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had strongly disapproved of Akash Vijayvargiya's misconduct and told party leaders that arrogance and misbehaviour cannot be tolerated.
