A day after resuming office - after a 77-day exile - Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director Alok Verma on Thursday transferred five officers. The officers who have been transferred are - Joint Director Ajay Bhatnagar, DIG MK Sinha, DIG Tarun Gauba, Joint Director Murugesan, and Additional Director AK Sharma. "Ajay Bhatnagar has been given additional charge of training in spite of his current responsibility of MDMA and NE departments while Murugesan, who is holding charge of AC 2, will also supervise AC 3. Sharma will supervise AC 1 division. Sinha has been given charge of AC 1 division along with the responsibility of BS&FC unit while Gauba, who is in Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) Chandigarh, has been given additional charge of AC 3. Murugesan and Gauba are to supervise the probe against Special Director Rakesh Asthana instead of A.K. Sharma and M.K. Sinha," said sources in the agency. 

According to reports, Anish Prasad will continue as the Deputy Director, Administration and KR Chaurasia will head Special Unit-I (the unit which carries surveillance).

Meanwhile, CBI Deputy SP Devender Kumar has moved the Delhi High Court against Verm's decision to revoke transfer orders of various officers given by Interim Director M Nageshwar Rao. His plea is likely to be listed for hearing tomorrow before Justice Najmi Waziri. 

Earlier, Verma on Wednesday revoked most of the transfers orders given by Nageshwar Rao. Rao, a 1986-batch Odisha cadre IPS officer, was appointed Interim Director of the CBI on October 24. Verma joined office after the Supreme Court on Tuesday set aside his forced leave but restrained him from taking any major policy decision till the CVC probe into corruption charges against him is over.
