New Delhi:

Drawing flak from all quarters, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde on Tuesday met Sonia Gandhi at 10 Janpath and briefed her regarding Patna serial blasts.

Shinde has been on the receiving end of all criticism of Opposition for not visiting Patna, but attending a movie's music launch on Monday.

While talking to reporters, Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde said that Centre had sent an alert to Bihar about possible terror attack on Narendra Modi's rally in Patna.

"Centre provides both general & specific information regarding possiblity of blasts/other incidents to state governments. Thus state police must be alert while rallies are being organized," Shinde stated.

He also said, "NIA must take over Patna blasts probe. It is one of the main forces of our country."

Talking about his cancelled visit, Shinde informed, "I did not visit Patna as Bihar CM had some prior engagement, will discuss with him the law and order situation of Bihar in Delhi on Wednesday. Currently, Home Secretary, Joint Secretary and DG NIA have gone to Patna, they will brief me later."

Serial blasts rocked Patna on Sunday ahead of BJP prime ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Hunkar’ rally. The toll in the blasts has risen to six.
