Centre, states announce ex-gratia amounts for victims of Patna-Indore Express accident

New Delhi:

Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu on Sunday announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 3.5 lakh for the families of victims of Patna-Indore Express accident.

At least 100 people were killed and over 100 others were injured after 14 coaches of Patna-Indore Express derailed near Kanpur Dehat at around 3:00am on Sunday. 

Rescue efforts are still on as many people are still feared trapped inside the coaches. 

Apart from Prabhu, several other state and central bodies have announced ex-gratia amounts for victims.

Central Govt: Rs 2 Lakh for deceased’s family; Rs 50,000 for critically injured

Railway Ministry: Rs 3.5 Lakh for deceased’s family; Rs 50,000 for critically injured and Rs 25,000 for injured

UP Govt: Rs 5 Lakh for deceased’s family; Rs 50,000 for critically injured and Rs 25,000 for injured

MP Govt: Rs  2 Lakh for deceased’s family; Rs 50,000 for critically injured
