She met the family at Chunar guest house where she was kept after being detained by the Uttar Pradesh police in Mirzapur. Priyanka Gandhi later returned to Delhi after meeting the victims.

The state government has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of the victims.

The Sonebhadra incident saw 10 people killed in a shootout over a land dispute in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. While the main accused and 29 others have been arrested, a Sub-Divisional Magistrate and four other officials have been suspended.
