The confusion that took birth after news reports alleging that short skirts have been banned in clubs across Chandigarh has been cleared by the administration itself.

Dismissing media reports and outrage on the social media, home secretary of the Union Territory, Anurag Agarwal, said that no such ban has been imposed on women wearing short skirts.

“We have not banned miniskirts. No such dress code has been prescribed in the policy framed by the Chandigarh administration recently,” said home secretary.

From the moment news was broke on several media platforms, people started slamming the administration on social media. Hundreds of users on Twitter and Facebook ridiculed the administration and charged it with sexism.

This is how the report was slammed on social media:

Not just people, some famous personalities also shared their views on this.

Discotheque owners in the city recently submitted a representation to the Union Territory adviser, saying they suffered a dip of 40% in business due to the new policy that ordered clubs shut at midnight instead of the earlier closing timings of 1am.
