New Delhi:
KC Ramamurthy, Congress Rajya Sabha MP from Karnataka on Wednesday submitted his resignation to the Vice President Secretariat, reported news agency ANI citing sources. His resignation has also been accepted by House Chairman M Venkaiah Nadu, the agency said. Like his many other colleagues, Ramamurthy is also likely to join the ruling BJP. The Congress, India's oldest political party, is going through tough times with the meltdown in several states after party president Rahul Gandhi’s resignation.
In the recent past, Bhubneshwar Kalita and Sanjay Singh, both from the Congress, had resigned from the upper house. Several leaders from states like Goa, Maharashtra and Haryana have deserted the party in the past few months. In Karnataka, the Congress-JDS government collapsed after several party MLAs switched their loyalty.
