New Delhi:

Amid series of fedayeen attack on Border Security Force (BSF) jawans by Pakistani troops, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala, in a veiled attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accused the BJP government of turning its blind eye to such incidents.

Reacting to the chilling murder of Head Constable Narender Kumar (50), Surjewala said, “First Hemraj, now Narendra Singh. Pakistan murdered him barbarically. What is the govt doing? Modi ji doesn't your soul call you out?".

"Modi ji doesn't your soul call you out? Where is the 56-inch chest? Where are the red eyes? What about your promises to eliminate 10 to avenge the murder of one? Govt is worried about the corrupt but not jawans. Modi ji uses Army for his political gains but doesn't think of their security. The nation demands answers you'll have to answer," the Congress spokesperson reiterated while taking a dig at Modi's '56 inch ka seena, laal aankh' slogans.

Pakistani troops slit the throat of Border Security Force jawan, Narender Kumar, after fatally shooting him along the International Border near Jammu on Tuesday.

The brutal and "unprecedented" incident that took place in the Ramgarh sector has prompted the security forces to issue a "high alert" along the IB and the Line of Control (LoC) even as the BSF has lodged a strong complaint with its Pakistani counterparts.

As per the official sources, the body of Head Constable Kumar also bore three bullet wounds and it could be retrieved over six hours after the brutal incident took place along the border.

Constable Kumar, who hails from Thana Kala village of Sonipat in Haryana, is survived by wife Santosh Devi and sons Mohit Kumar and Ankit Kumar. He joined the BSF back in 1990.

Reacting, the son of BSF Constable said, "It's a matter of pride for us, not everyone gets to be draped in the tricolour. But we just can't keep feeling proud. We are proud today, someone gets killed tomorrow, we will be proud again. We demand action from the authorities".

"Now we're proud but what happens after 2-3 days, when we don't get any help? My brother&I are unemployed. Sole bread-winner, my father, is gone while serving the nation. I want the authority to provide us whatever help we need," Kumar's son added.

The dreadful incident has evoked a sharp condemnation from across the armed forces, raising the tensions along the IB and LoC.
